Marilyn Agrelo Screens Mad Hot Ballroom in Dushanbe, Tajikistan

Marilyn Agrelo, AFS film envoy and director of Mad Hot Ballroom, arrived in Dushanbe, Tajikistan yesterday after an epic journey there.  She was turned away at her Moscow connection and deported back to NYC only to immediately turn back around, connect through Istanbul, and successfully make it to Tajikistan.  What a trooper!

Here’s are the first photos from her adventure in Central Asia.  She screened Mad Hot Ballroom at the American Corner in Dushanbe, Tajikistan’s capital city.

What a story! We need to know why Marilyn was turned back in Moscow. How did her visit in Tajikistan go? I bet her audience loved her film.

Marilyn was turned back because of a transit visa problem that was impossible to predict. She’s just finishing day 2 in Tajikistan and has a week to go. Lots more posts and photos to come.
